HSP27: Localization

Hsp27 is a very ubiquitous Small Heat Shock Protein and is present in all human tissues. Particularly, they are abundantly expressed in skeletal, cardiac and smooth muscles³⁶. In the cells, they are found in the cytosol of cells¹⁸; membrane bound³⁷  secreted⁶  and/or associated with intracellular organelles like the mitochondria and the cytoskeleton³⁸  as well as translocated to the nucleus.
